Last night, I finally finished 1 Samuel. It amazes me how David took the upper road when dealing with Saul. Here this jealous king was out to kill David and yet, David, being as strong as he was, didn’t seek to get Saul first. In fact, David said this phrase often, “I would not lay a hand on the Lord’s anointed.” God had given David opportunities to get Saul but David respected God’s anointment.
Those of us who have accepted Christ are anointed. So, why hurt one another? Why do we have the “I’m going to get you before you get me” attitude? Why not follow David’s example…
The Lord rewards every man for his righteousness and faithfulness. The Lord delivered you [Saul] into my hands today, but I would not lay a hand on the Lord’s anointed. As surely as I value your life today, so may the Lord value my life and deliver me from all trouble. 1 Samuel 26: 23-24
David knew God was bigger than the situation at hand. He trusted that God would do the delivering. David didn’t have to take care of things for himself. Rather, he knew God would handle it.
Next time, controversy and conflict arise in my life, I think it would be best to let God handle it and deliver me from the trouble. It would be better for my blood pressure.
I hope your day will be great!! Oh, now wait a minute… if you haven’t left a comment on Tuesday’s post and get your name in the drawing pot, you better hurry up!! I’m giving a ankle bracelet away! So what are you waiting for??? Get over there and leave a comment!!!!
