30 Hour Famine

God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will be satisfied.

Matthew 5:6 (NLT)

I’ve never been hungry, hungry….. like go without food meal after meal hungry.  My parents and grandparents made sure we never went without.  Of course my grandmother told me stories of the Great Depression and how she and her sisters were hungry.  But I….. never.

A child dies from hunger-related causes every 8 to 12 seconds.

According to 30 Hour Famine website, the amount of time I typed this sentence a child has died because of hunger.

We live in a technological advanced world that has made strides in farming and yet, people still starve.  There is food everywhere I look in the local supercenter grocery store, and yet, people still starve.  Money is raised and donated for causes like the 30 Hour Famine, and yet, people still starve.  Food bank shelves stand empty thanks to today’s economy.  50 families are regulars at our little tiny food pantry in our community.  People are starving.

My son brought home his fundraising packet for the 30 Hour Famine.  His goal has been set and he will participate by not eating for 30 Hours.  He doesn’t realize how long 30 hours can feel.  He is a growing boy and food is important…. yet people starve everyday.  And so, like any other mother, I am pitching in to help raise his goal.

I’ve decided since Father’s Day is around the corner, I would sell this little cake for $30.  All the money will be donated to the 30 Hour Famine.  I am donating the fixin’s.  If you live in the Little Rock, Benton, Bryant or Sheridan area, order one today and help prevent hunger.  You have your choice in colors for the couch, pillows, and sweater as well as the hair color.

Bring a smile to your dad’s face on Father’s Day and help feed those in need…..

Orders will be taken until Thursday June 14th.

God bless……
